چکیده

The effectiveness of norm-based control methodologies heavily relies on the quality of the model that describes the dynamic behavior of the plant. In practical applications, the requirement to accurately describe the system at hand often results in high-order plant-models. On the other hand, low-order models are desired to end-up with low-order controllers that reduce implementational costs. The resulting trade-off between dynamical order and closed-loop performance can not be handled in a straightforward manner since the closed-loop behavior is unknown at the moment of plant-parametrization. This paper proposes a method to overcome this trade-off via non-parametric H∞ controlsynthesis, i.e. omitting parametrization of the plant. As a result, no data-reduction or datainterpolation is performed before synthesis. The resulting controller is represented as Frequency Response Sets for a given frequency grid. This data can be used as input for controller parametrization with explicit trade-off between closed-loop performance and controller order. This is achieved by considering the mixed-sensitivity problem as a model-matching problem based on Youla-parametrization. Via a specific conceptual choice of the coprime-factorization for the Youla parametrization, it is proved that the SISO H∞ control synthesis problem can be solved in a non-parametric way based on the plant zeros and frequency response coefficients of the system solely. A simulation study is performed on a fourth-order system to illustrate the main steps in the approach.

Designing fuzzy-sliding mode controller with adaptive sliding surface for vector control of induction motors considering structured and non-structured uncertainties

Induction motors with nonlinear dynamics are superior in terms of size, weight, motor inertia, maximum speed, efficiency, and cost than direct current machines, and hence their control is of great important. The main objective of this paper is to design a fuzzy sliding mode controller in order to control the position of the induction motor including parametric and non-parametric uncertainties b...

Application of ANN Technique for Interconnected Power System Load Frequency Control (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper describes an application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to Load Frequency Control (LFC) of nonlinear power systems. Power systems, such as other industrial processes, have parametric uncertainties that for controller design had to take the uncertainties in to account. For this reason, in the design of LFC controller the idea of robust control theories are being used. To improve ...

Nonlinear Tracking over Compact Sets with Linear Dynamically Varying H∞ Control∗

Linear dynamically varying H∞ controllers are developed for tracking natural trajectories of a broad class of nonlinear systems defined over compact sets. It is shown that the existence of a suboptimal H∞ controller is related to the existence of a bounded solution to a functional algebraic Riccati equation. Even though nonlinear systems running over compact sets could exhibit sensitive depende...

A New Near Optimal High Gain Controller For The Non-Minimum Phase Affine Nonlinear Systems

In this paper, a new analytical method to find a near-optimal high gain controller for the non-minimum phase affine nonlinear systems is introduced. This controller is derived based on the closed form solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation associated with the cheap control problem. This methodology employs an algebraic equation with parametric coefficients for the systems with s...

Parametric H∞ loopshaping and weighted mixed sensitivity minimization

Generalized H 1 loopshaping is developed for a particular weighted mixed sensitivity minimization task. A free parameter is introduced to trade-oo minimizations of sensitivity and complementary sensitivity in the H 1 performance index. A quadratically convergent algorithm is derived for computing the optimal performance index and a state-space solution is obtained for suboptimal controllers. Th...
